Sunbury 8 – Ramgarhia 3

The aftermath of Christmas was full of promise for the 2004, but the new year’s resolution was already broken before it was even started for RHC.

The game against Sunbury was always going to be difficult as they always put up a good fight. RHC went for a new formation for the new year and it was to prove to difficult to adopt against a side that was rearing to go from the onset.

Ramgarhia looked uncomfortable from the beginning with the sweeper system as early mistakes crept in and shots on goal for Sunbury where in ample supply. But Ramgarhia too had early chances, Raju Chana should have opened the scoring with two chances with just the keeper to beat and but poor finishing, like all season for RHC, dashed any hopes for a good start.

The deadlock, for Sunbury, came within the first 10 minutes of the push back – as the defence tried to scramble the ball away Sunbury scored with an easy shot at goal which slipped passed the keeper. Chances for Jas Dhamu, Makhi Panesar and Parmi Soor also went begging.

More goals where to follow for Sunbury as mid-field and defensive mistakes gave way. RHC was 5-0 down! Ramgarhia were in trouble and the half-time whistle was eagerly anticipated – could Ramgarhia salvage anything from the second half?

If the first half was to prove difficult for RHC the second half was not going to bring any fortune either. The umpiring left a lot to be desired as nothing was going Ramgarhia’s way. Raju Chana and Parmi Soor salvaged two goals - but with more goals from Sunbury the deficit was too big for Ramgarhia to bring back anything from the game.

Not a good start to the year and more importantly the second half of the season.

(oh by the way this match report was supposed to be written by Tandeep Flora – the lazy fart!!)
